While the Pallottines are willing to serve the church wherever the need is greatest, they recognize a two-fold charisma in the founder’s preference for the Missions and Lay Apostolate. Our East African Missions in Tanzania and Kenya are a very important part of the Irish Province. In addition, The Union of The Catholic Apostolate (LINK) emphasizes the vital role of lay people in our work.
We are very fortunate that a former Superior General of the Pallottines, Fr. William Mohler was a member of the Vatican II commission which prepared the decree on the apostolate of the laity. Through him St. Vincent Pallotti’s teaching on the role of the laity in the church became part of the Councils Decree on the Laity ‘Apostolicam Actuositatem’.
